Bank of America

This striking bank, crafted by architect Rudy Baumfield and inspired by Le Corbusier’s renowned Ronchamp chapel, continues our series spotlighting Palm Springs’ remarkable mid-century structures amid the city’s Modernism Week. Erected in 1959, the Bank of America edifice draws from a design created five years earlier by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier, as indicated on a plaque mounted on its wall. The building’s substantial overhanging roof and sweeping curves mirror those of the Notre Dame du Haut chapel in Ronchamp, France.
